An Amazing Trip in Western Australia

Kalbarri Natures Window

Hello everybody! From now I’ll write my travel reports in English. That’s good for everyone, I can improve my English and you guys from Switzerland can refresh your English as well! The main reason is that my friends from my school and from my trip can read my reports. I live now over three month in Australia but that doesn’t mean that my English is perfect. I’m sorry for all my mistakes! Actually I think that I wrote until now already too many mistakes=)…

I finished my school at SELC already over two weeks ago and I got my Certificate. It was a great time and I enjoyed. I started my trip around Australia about two weeks ago. I was on a bus tour from Perth to Broom and now I’m in Adelaide.

Perth – Peace and Quite

The last evening in Sydney was crazy…. I drunk maybe a little bit too much and I missed almost my airplane one day later! I overslept and my home stay mother had to wake me up. I ordered a taxi and hurried to the airport to catch my flight.

Finally I arrived in Perth in the afternoon. I met Cynthia, a Taiwan girl, in the bus to the city. After we found a backpacker we explored the city together.

Perth is a very nice city with a lot of modern buildings. The people are relaxed, you see nobody in hurry. Kings Park is maybe the most beautiful part of Perth. It’s a huge park with nice botanic gardens from where you have an amazing view over the whole city. I stayed just for two days in Perth but I had a great time and I learned to cook noodle soup! Oishi=)!

Bus Tour from Perth to Broom

I joined a bus tour of 10 days from Perth to Broom. First we were a group of about 20 people, a lot from Great Britain, some Australians, Swiss and Japanese and also an Italian girl and a French guy. We had a nice group and a great time together. Sarah “Number 1” was our tour guide. She explained us many things about the plants, the animals and the different places. For lunch we ate sandwiches and had a barbeques for dinner. We cooked together in the evening and drunk some beers.

Everyone got a nickname on the first evening. We had three Sarah’s “Sarah Number 1, 2 and 3” or the French guy was called “Roast Beef”. My name was “Major” from the British TV series Fawlty Towers. Everyone had also to guess how many kilometers we’ll drive to Exmouth, where the tour finished for some of the group and everybody had to put two Dollars in a bag, the best guess wins…. I guessed 2222 kilometres.

We were a lot of time in the bus because Western Australia is very deserted. We drove sometimes three hours just to the next petrol station with a small shop. Sometimes we saw some animals like kangaroos, emus or big eagles.

We visited of course beautiful places like the Kalbarri National Park, Cape Range National Park, Shark Bay and different amazing beaches which are unlimited long and nobody is there…

We went to Coral Bay where is a beautiful coral reef called Ningaloo Reef which great for snorkeling and diving is. I wanted to dive of course! So I booked a tour and we went by boat to two different reefs. The first dive was very nice but the second one was unique! I’ve never seen a shark before but there were many of them. At one part they were turning around us. We could see them all the time. We dived later to a cave where a big shark of 2.5 meters stayed. He was just staying before the cave so we could see him very well. Actually I was a little bit afraid but it was a fantastic adventure!

After we arrived in Exmouth…. So how many kilometers did we drive??? “We drove 2217 kilometers” speaks Sarah and pointed with her finger to me…. “Major, Congratulations” Oh my God!! I couldn’t believe that I won. I get a bag full of money. 40 Dollars, not bad =)! But because I’m a generous person I bought a case of beer for the people who continued their trip to Broom. Some of our group finished their tour in Exmouth and went back to Perth. No beer for them….

We spent the next days in the gorgeous Karijini National Park. The Karijini National Park is characterized by deep canyons and nice small pools (lakes) in which you can swim if you descend the canyons. We got every day down in one of the canyons to walk around and go for a swim. The Stones are red because of the iron. It looks really beautiful. In the night we slept outside to see the wonderful stars which are very clear and sometimes you can see a shooting star.

Finally we arrived in Broom the second biggest city of Western Australia but actually it’s just a small town. There are not so many things to do. There is just a nice open-air cinema which some of us visited. But a little bit outside of the town is the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen. Cable Beach!

My first trip was amazing and I met a lot of funny and kind people. In addition, I learned some Japanese. Segoy! Kampai! Watashi wa osembei ga suki des!! San pee shee o! (oh shit! That was a bad one =)…. Sorry Eli) Gambare bengio! Alligato Eli for being a so nice teacher=)!

Onaka heta! Now I'm going to cook a risotto with my Italian friend!

Ich han ghoert es haet gschneit i de Schwiz…. Gruess usem schoene warme Adelaide... Aishi teru! Macconiera (Brazilian word! Is it correct Vinicious??) Miss you guys! Take care and see you soon!

Peace and Love
